IP Address-management

Administration of the internal IP address schemes at departmental level.  Switching from error prone Excel lists to MS-Access 2002

• data modeling according to hierarchy network area - network segment - hosts

• management of networks, segments and individual computers or devices

• testing for overlap of  network segments of competing IP addresses, consistency check with subnet masks, default next free IP address in the network area at the input, automatical "ping" after entry of new IP addresses

• management tool for network masks, host and segment categories

• update tracking with logging of messages

• integrated log book

• reports for occupied and free IP address blocks, host lists

The database solution was later split into server-side Oracle database and MS-Access clients.
