Planning and implementation of an administrative database under MS-Access 2000 (4 desktop clients). The administrative tasks were previously done by MS-Excel spreadsheets, so disadvantages were:
- highly error-prone data manipulations, no access protection against unintended changes
- support of business processes not existent
- unnecessary operations in parallel (many "listings")
The MS-Access solution, in particular, succeeded through enormous savings in working hours here because of:
- separation of data input and reporting, concurrent read-write access is now possible and consistent
- clients statistics as hard coded reports
- invoicement with complex business rules "at your fingertips" and automatic mailing of invoices
- shortest response times for database queries
